An Impressive Upgrade Of An Already Over-The-Top Tube Amp

For 20 years the Rogue Audio Cronus has been the finest integrated tube amplifier in the world in its price range. It has gone through three major upgrades and several minor upgrades. Rogue improved the sound, increased the power, and added features. But these design wizards are perfectionists, and still they wondered, was it enough?

Rogue Audio is proud to announce the new Cronus Dark. With an impressive package of upgrades, the Cronus Dark reaches a new level of refinement. Dynamics are better and the imaging defies reason for an integrated amplifier at any price point. The detail is remarkable and furthers the illusion of a live performance.

Special Dark Upgrades

Whether your sources are digital or analog, the Cronus Dark will deliver an even more realistic and immersive experience. The upgrades are substantial. They consist of 25% more capacitance in the power supply, upgraded signal tubes, upgraded OP Amps in the phono stage, upgraded binding posts, and upgraded caps and resistors in numerous key locations.

Rogue Audio is leaving us somewhat in the dark as far as specifics regarding some of these upgraded Dark components. But ask yourself, does a master chef reveal every ingredient of a top-end culinary masterpiece? The results are what's important. Trust Rogue Audio to follow the tradition of its other over-the-top Dark Version components and deliver absolutely outstanding performance that will take your breath away.

Pure Tube Design

The Cronus Dark outperforms other integrated amps costing many times more. The pure tube design provides a smooth, almost liquid sound that has made this amp a reviewer favorite. With circuitry borrowed from Rogue Audio's most advanced amplifier designs, the Cronus Dark's 100WPC power delivery effortlessly reproduces even the most demanding musical passages.

A Triode/Ultralinear switch allows for on-the-fly switching between Ultralinear operation and pure triode. Ultralinear offers the most power and a commanding grip on the bass, while triode provides a slightly softer and more romantic sound.

The Cronus Dark uses a triode preamplifier coupled to Rogue Audio's excellent Atlas Magnum power amplifier. A large oversized linear power supply stores tremendous energy for low frequency response and dynamic headroom. The tube circuitry is cutting edge with short signal paths exacted in a low noise design. Finally, precision components are used to provide the transparency and air that are so critical to accurate musical reproduction.

Extraordinary Phono Stage

For vinyl enthusiasts, the phono section excels with both MM and MC cartridges. Two gain settings provide for 45dB and 60dB of gain so you can now use either high or low output cartridges. The phono also has five individual load settings so you can fine tune the phono for optimal results.

Additionally, the line stage has an amazingly low noise floor for a completely black background for your listening.

Premium Headphone Circuit

The premium headphone circuit is based around MOSFET buffers capable of massive current sourcing. The design is basically a simplified single ended version of Rogue Audio's RH-5 headphone amplifier and puts out enough power to drive the most difficult headphones for clean crisp personal audio.

Surprisingly amazing chair!

tl;dr: If you need a chair that has the features of this one, then this one is a winner! Hits above its weight class for sure. My wife is 5’. She’s small. For whatever reason she ended up with a chair made for big people, like 6+ feet and up to 500lbs type of a chair. She’d often even sleep on it and chill on it. The chair was big enough to fit 2 of her to be honest. It was an expensive chair that I won at some raffle and didn’t like myself. Over the years it ripped (got a cover for it) and even started to get lopsided (from the sleeping) and finally a spring broke (hence the pillow on it in the pictures) She obviously lives pink. I also wanted to get a chair where she could work and not end ip asleep on. Not like we have a couch or a bed for that 😂. This chair is very obviously smaller than her previous chair, it’s also significantly cheaper in price and build, it’s also not as durable feeling or stable, and it’s just not as padded. Yet somehow it’s an amazing chair that we both like better than her previous chair??? Like it’s crazy that this chair somehow works better in so many ways. Her desk is modified to be shorter than normal desks (again, she small lol) and her previous chair was just too big. The wheels are also like SUPER smooth, like you can run a chair race easily with it. It rolls over her rug and tucks into her desk (which is in our bedroom) easily. The amount of space this has save us when the chair isn’t being used is a lot. Previous chair was much bigger and didn’t tuck in at all. The color is nice and the padding is plenty for a small and much lighter than 500lbs woman. I’m 6 feet and 200 lbs and the chair is nice for me as well. My chair is bigger and more secure in the backing, which is similar to this one. The lowest tension setting on my chair is still too high for her to lean back on my chair. This chair has a lower tension minimum and she can easily lean back freely, as well as keep enough tension to work without sagging. This chair is surprisingly outstanding! I’m sure my wife will destroy it quicker than the last one, but it’s so cheap that even if it only lasts 1-3 years, I’ll happily buy it ones or twice more 🤷🏽‍♀️. Maybe by then they’ll invent a comfortable titanium chair that’s affordable that she won’t destroy 😂.

Random parts of it have fallen off, which is fine because it was still functional. But now the most frustrating part is that the wheels continue to pop off, and while the first attempts to pop them back on worked, they will not stay on now. This is obviously greatly impacting the stability, and I will need to purchase a replacement soon. For this price and lack of long-term durability, I would not buy again.

So I accepted it for an error. The next day I checked to see if I could return it. Thought I could, till I read that I would have to pay to return it. So I wrote the seller to tell them to ignore the return. And that was that. Till a couple days later I get an email from the seller asking if I would like a full refund or a replacement at no cost. I was like heck yeah send me the blue one. I was thrilled and I wanted to thank the seller for doing this without the return of the other chair. But I could not find a place to do that now. So here is where I will thank you. Thank you so much for doing this for me. You guys are AWESOME!. I love the chair and I love the blue color. I find it very comfortable, lite, easy to adjust, the size works great for me, and for the price the quality fits my needs. I do hope it lasts me for quite some time. Thanks again!
